DEVELOPMENTAL EVALUATIONS

Pediatric Developmental Evaluations in Mechanicsburg, PA

At Clear Path Pediatric Therapy, our developmental evaluations help families better understand their child’s strengths, challenges, and overall developmental profile. These evaluations are designed to identify areas where a child may benefit from support and provide clear recommendations for next steps.

We work with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children who may have concerns related to communication, play skills, social-emotional development, behavior, motor development, sensory processing, learning readiness, or overall developmental progress. Our team uses a thoughtful, child-centered approach to help families get answers and feel confident in how to move forward.

Our Developmental Evaluation Approach

OBSERVATION | ASSESSMENT | FAMILY INPUT | RECOMMENDATIONS | COLLABORATION

At Clear Path Pediatric Therapy, we take a comprehensive, family-centered approach to developmental evaluations. We understand that no single checklist tells the full story of a child, which is why we look at the whole child within the context of their daily life, routines, and relationships.

Our developmental evaluation process may include:

  • parent interview and developmental history

  • clinical observation and play-based interaction

  • review of strengths, areas of challenge, and functional skills

  • use of appropriate screening or assessment tools

  • discussion of concerns related to home, school, or community settings

  • personalized recommendations for supports, services, or next steps

Following the evaluation, families receive feedback that is clear, practical, and supportive. Our goal is to help you better understand your child and feel empowered in the next steps for care.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a developmental evaluation?
A developmental evaluation is a comprehensive assessment used to better understand how a child is developing across areas such as communication, play, social-emotional skills, behavior, motor skills, sensory processing, and daily functioning.
How is a developmental evaluation different from therapy?
Therapy focuses on ongoing treatment and skill-building. A developmental evaluation helps identify strengths, challenges, and recommendations so families can better understand whether therapy or other supports may be beneficial.
What ages do you evaluate?
Our psychologist primarily focuses on evaluating children ages 10 and under. If your child is older than 10, please call our office to discuss your concerns and determine whether our services are the right fit.
What can you diagnose?
Our evaluations assess a range of developmental and behavioral concerns. Depending on your child’s needs, this may include autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, cognitive functioning (IQ), and other developmental or behavioral differences. We provide comprehensive assessments to help clarify diagnoses and guide appropriate next steps for support at home, school, and in therapy.
What happens after the evaluation?
After the evaluation, families receive clear feedback and personalized recommendations for next steps. These may include therapy services, home strategies, school supports, additional referrals, or continued monitoring.

At Clear Path, we offer many of these services in-house, so if therapy is recommended, we’re often able to get started right away with your child’s treatment plan. Our goal is to make the transition from evaluation to support as seamless and efficient as possible for your family.
